A Pair of Prayers for You

Director’s Reflection

Dear Companions on the Journey,

Two considerations for you…

1) The last few weeks have been very painful for us American Catholics. so. The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s report and the controversy about what Pope Francis knew and when he knew it have tried, severely, our Catholic patience, our sense of justice, our protection of children, and our trust in our leaders. will continue to support one another, and we will not let, with God’s grace, our hearts become stone. We grieve together, we are angry together, and, I pray, we will persevere together.

A prayer for the duration…

God of endless love, hear our cries as we
Agonize over the harm done to our brothers and sisters.
Breathe wisdom into our prayer, soothe restless
Hearts with hope, steady shaken spirits with faith:
Show us the way to justice and wholeness.
Grant us courage and wisdom, humility and grace,
So that we may act with justice and find peace in you.

2) Even amid this overwhelming reality storm, still other matters press us. This month, our Care for our Common Home Committee will be offering educational and action opportunities for our Paulist Center Community to learn about, and respond to, climate change and responsible care for our environment. Their intention is captured in this prayer:

Creator God,
We thank you for the abundance of creation, for the air we breathe,
The water we drink, and the food we eat.
We pray that we, your children, will steward this gift
So that all of your children may share in its abundance
Here and around the world, now and in generations to come.
In Jesus’ name we pray.

What do you think?
And let us pray for/with one another.
Michael
