Director’s Reflection

At the Paulist Center Community, we are blessed with people of many backgrounds (not evenly distributed, of course).  If one went to one mass on the weekend, one might conclude that we are mostly folks over 50 years of age; at another mass, one might conclude that most of us are under 40 years of age; and, at another mass, a community of families with children.  What a blessing!

Director’s Reflection

Dear Companions on the Journey,

At the Paulist Center Community, we are blessed with people of many backgrounds (not evenly distributed, of course).  If one went to one mass on the weekend, one might conclude that we are mostly folks over 50 years of age; at another mass, one might conclude that most of us are under 40 years of age; and, at another mass, a community of families with children.  What a blessing!  Occasionally, a stalwart from one mass will, for whatever reason, wander into the alien territory of another weekend mass, even unknowingly sitting in another stalwart’s seat!  How blessed we are!  For those who find the Paulist Center Community a community of mostly “gray hair’s,” here’s a paraphrase of Psalm 71 (but anyone can pray it)…

You are my trust from my youth, you have upheld me from birth.
You took me out of my mother’s womb, my praise shall be of You.

Do not cast me off in the time of old age; do not forsake me when my strength fails.
Do not be far from me; O my God, help me!

O God, You have taught me from my youth; I declare You wondrous works.
Now when I am old and gray-headed, O God,
Do not forsake me until I declare You to this generation.

Of God, who is like you?
You, who have shown me severe troubles, shall revive me again.
You shall comfort me on every side.

I will praise you—And your faithfulness!
To You I will sing, O Holy One of Israel.
My lips rejoice when I sing to you, and my soul, which you have redeemed.  Amen.

What do you think?

And let us pray for/with one another.

Michael
