Appeal of the Paulists

January 21, 2021

Dear Companions on the Journey,

This weekend we welcome Paulist Richard Whitney who will speak about the Paulist Fathers’ mission and how you can be part of it. That’s what we call our “Annual Paulist Appeal” (the proceeds of which will count towards our comprehensive campaign).

In addition, every ten or fifteen years, the Paulist Fathers mount the “Hope for the Futurecomprehensive campaign to address our needs. We depend on you, members of the Paulist Center Community, to join us in that mission. We will be asking for a prayerful consideration as you make a significant donation to address, at this time, the building of our new house of mission and studies in Washington, DC; taking care of our older Fathers; and significant capital improvements to our properties (including the Paulist Center). As the weeks come upon us, I will be sharing more with you, but, for the time being, please read the announcement in this week’s bulletin.

To address some of your questions, please see these “FAQs“!

We thank all those who gave so generously for the flowers which beautified our sanctuary for Christmas . Here are the names for whom the flowers were dedicated.

Don’t miss this historic opportunity!
A “Synod on synodality” is what Pope Francis has called this synod. Its formal title is ‘For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation and Mission.’ The Synod is our opportunity to help guide and shape the Catholic Church of the 21st century. Donna Doucette, Executive Director of Voice of the Faithful and long time Paulist Center Community member, will lead us in this educational offering. For more information, see the bulletin. Here is the link for the 7pm, Monday, February 7th Zoom event.

Every once in a while there is a “small win” in our efforts to fashion a better world. Thanks to all Paulist Center members and friends who contacted the Governor’s office on behalf of commuting William Allen’s sentence. It happened! Dare we say that it happened because of our efforts?

The Sunday bulletin is online at the Paulist Center website. We hope that you will open it with these links to see more about what is happening now at the Paulist Center Community.

We conclude with the prophet Micah 6:8:
Our Faithful God has told you, O mortal, what is good;
   and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, to love kindness,
   and to walk humbly with your God?
And let us pray for/with one another.
Michael
